It is my goal as Councilman At-Large to work toward ensuring our local community progresses through smarter and more efficient policy that focuses on strengthening opportunities for all people and delivering quality services. Illuminating the 'Mansfield Potential' is a key factor toward our future growth as a city.
Through an external lens, the agenda outlined below will show a Mansfield where people can work, live and prepare a better future for themselves and for their families.
It is my belief that opportunity doesn't just happen. We have to go out there and get it. And to get opportunity, we have to set conditions that are in alignment with the 21st century economy.
If we want to successfully compete in this competitive global economy, then we must start today or we lose out on tomorrow.
Below is my 2015 Legislative Agenda toward a 'Mansfield Ready' for Quality Opportunities.
Modernization: utilize technology to the city's advantage to enhance services and improve productivity. Focus on keeping jobs and making them better, notcutting them.
Youth Policy: strengthen partnerships with local academic institutions to provide meaningful hands-on mentoring and training programs directed toward exposing and engaging young people to real-word careers while equipping them with real-world skills.
Research and Development:propose the following recommendations to the mayor and community at-large. Advocate for the adoption of these recommendations for the purpose of driving toward a more 21st century based local economy that would create meaningful opportunities for all residents.
i. Identify and analyze emerging skill needs within market and knowledge-based economies.
ii. Utilize efficiency-based performance benchmarks for the purpose of collecting and analyzing data. This data can be used to drive more effective decisions and discount expensive and inefficient line-items.
iii. Implement an intensive focus on innovation, regional trade initiatives and entrepreneurship opportunities.
